Palace’s Autumn 2018 Collection: Bright & Baggy
The concept is simple and captivating: bold prints and bright colors. It’s as if the designers at Palace opened up a pixilated color wheel on Photoshop and amped the vibrancy to 900 for reference when placing fabric orders.
The line was captured next to these enormous and wild statues, and with polo shirts this bright, you might not let your eyes follow our model’s gaze.
I tip my hat at Teller for capturing the artistic koi, and another kind of tip on these ancient(?) sculptures.
We should also note that Palace has made their Fall line practical: you can essentially show up at your Silicone Beach start-up in exactly what you would wear to that new office gym built just past the organic kombucha wells.
Ah, the light blue denim jean. It screams 90’s to me, but what else would you pair with a coral red that has been paired with a clean fuchsia? The pairing of a cool tone red with a warm tone red is a daring and bold move, excellently pulled off by our model above.
But then again, who needs to choose between your tones of red, when you could invest in a full fire truck red Indy 500 uniform?
Might I add that the pairing of a boujee trucker hat is a wise, and accurate choice?
I even think the shoes are spot on and ready to be worked to their soles at a pit stop.
But don’t be fooled—Palace does not confine their pieces to one-time use!
Take those Indy 500 pants and pair them with a blush koi button down to really accentuate those body tattoos!
No real ink over your appendix scar? Not to worry! We assume the buttons are functional…
…and if they aren’t, fear not! This model shows that you can cover up more if you so, please.
You never know how cold your 4 AM morning hike will be, or how much you can detox in the sauna with a hood up on your watercolor purple windbreaker.
While the only bright color in this shot seems to be the spandex gown of the street performer who is clearly unaware that their photo will end up on the highest of fashion blogs, let’s not take away from a constant variable of Palace’s Fall line: baggy.
These loose items can be worn by hip millennials or by full-blown dads. The only way to tell the two demographics apart would be to see if they’re finishing off their look with New Balance running shoes.
I have to be honest, this isn’t the most asinine high-end look book I’ve seen, and for that, I feel safe.
I feel like I understand the concept and could mimic its core concepts if I needed to. And for that, I thank you, Palace.
I’d also like to give extra kudos where kudos are due because these pieces are versatile. They can be worn in a multitude of places and events—even if the windbreaker was not previously welcomed at Michelin Star restaurants.
Just let the host know it’s a piece by *~Palace*~ when checking in for your reservation, and all judgmental looks will fade away.
My last comment is that this picture proves I was not exaggerating when I said this line was baggy.
